The British Protected Ornamentals Association – Peter Seabrook Bursary is seek to reward young horticulturists with £ 1,000 to underpin their survey of commercial horticulture .
The scholarship , which is part of the David Colegrave Foundation Scholarship Season , is also uncommitted to schools and horticultural colleges to finance trips for students over 16 years of long time to leading commercial-grade horticultural establishment .
Simon Davenport , Chairman of the BPOA , allege , “ BPOA is delighted to support Peter in his feat to advance new newcomer to our industry . Last season , the £ 1,000 BPOA - Peter Seabrook Bursary was succeed by Gabor Lukoviczki .
With the support of the Bursary , Gabor has been able-bodied to stretch his subject field at Myerscough College to follow his Production gardening floor 2 course with degree 3 as well as being able to enrol on several smaller courses and purchase materials to enhance his horticultural knowledge and career opportunities . Gabor is also form as a grower at Lovania Nurseries .
Gabor suppose , “ My training is really important to me as it is helping me become a better grower and possibility up opportunities for further development . I recommend other keen horticulturist to apply for a scholarship with the David Colegrave Foundation in the future . ”
He adds how else the Bursary has helped him , “ The BPOA – Peter Seabrook Bursary has made me one big whole step closer to achieve my goal . I want to check more on pest and biological control and have been able-bodied to explicate my learning by buying some script . While attending an AHDB workshop Diamondback Moth Seminar , I realize how authoritative it is to recognize insect multifariousness . The bursary help me to purchase a digital microscope with high soar capability to identify the insect change , which helps me to aright select the pesticide or biologic ascendency to use . To extend my knowledge of pesterer , the bursary also help me to start one other course - the RSPH Level 2 Award in the Safe Use of Rodenticides class . This course will help me to keep in line the rodents safely and minimise plant damage . ”
