Celebrating the diversity of a beautiful native plant
My name is Stephanie Stewart , and I live in Averill Park , New York .
Lately I ’ve picture a band aboutconeflowers(Echinaceaspecies and hybrid , Zones 4–9 ) and I ’m not surprised ! They addcolorandtextureand superlative to my gardens — and they are so easy to deal for . Mine range in colouring from whites , to pinks , to neon orange and reds . Heights cast from 8 inches to 36 inches .
I started buying coneflowers a few years ago after reading about them inFine Gardeningand have added a couple more each class .

Butterflies and bees love them , and so do I.
This looks to be ‘ Cheyenne Spirit ’ , which boasts a great mix of colors on healthy , long - lived plant . And as you may see in this photo , the bee enjoy them as well .
That ’s an incredibly rich , pure pinko on this coneflower .

The classic , originalEchinaceapurpureais still a beautiful plant well deserving growing despite all the fresh hybrids in other colors .
hybrid between pinkEchinaceapurpureaand the yellowEchinaceaparadoxaallowed for the development of all these new varieties with brainy coloring .
It ’s beautiful to see how the look of the bloom changes as the petal fully unfurl and open up .

Many Modern selections of coneflowers are shorter , but grandiloquent forms like this add great presence to the garden .
