SixOnSaturday

It is still pretty chilly at night , about freeze , but during the day it has been getting to 12 or 13 ° c here and sunny with it . There ’s a definite feeling of leap in the air and the plants seem to be responding almost visibly to the increase low-cal levels . Despite the prognosis implying similar weather for the next couple of weeks , I am mistrustful of declare wintertime over . February has a way of kicking you in the backside , and March has been known to harbor nasty weather surprises . Still , I plan to savour it while it live . Six on Saturday then – Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a flower , a prick , foliage , a cuss , a achiever , anything at all . Join in !

Here are my Six for this calendar week .

1 – These hellebore are new this year , and I ’ve shown them here before when they were a bright white-hot . They now have a definite pink undertone to them . I ’m not sure whether they are old-hat - white flowers on their way out , or unexampled flowers on their way to be being ashen . clock time will tell .

2 – After something of a wintertime - enforced flower hiatus in my garden , it ’s eventually daffodil time . This is one of about 150 basic yellow daffs I put in the terra firma back in fall 2017 . I have added some more interesting narcissus this year but still , nothing wrong with a canonical daff .

3 – impermanent greenhouse staging . I rase some more lasting theatrical production last yr to make elbow room for tomato growing . I have a lot of come sown so will presently need every uncommitted horizontal space for pricked out seedlings . I design to use this space to grow tomato again so needed something prompt to serve on an interim basis . Two retrousse bath and a few board are just the job . Most of these plant will go out of doors soon , they are all intrepid , make elbow room for young seedlings .

4 – Some time back I pot up several pieces of heuchera stem , remainder of an old ‘ Palace Purple ’ industrial plant that seemed to have suffered some catastrophic event . Crown rot perchance , or maybe vine weevils . Anyhow , the little bits of stem are showing encouraging signaling of new growth . Hopefully these will grow on well as spring gets going .

5 – Sedum ‘ autumn joy ’ . I have n’t yet trend down last year ’s stems , but the new growth is already patent . They always remind me of little cabbages .

6 – Crocus , yellow’un . That regal one from last week still has n’t to the full spread out , despite the sunshine this week . Several of the yellow ones have , but no more than one per pot . perchance the other bulbs ganged up one of their fellows . “ you go outside , see how cold it is ” . “ no , YOU go outside ” . “ no , YOU go ! ” .
