SixOnSaturday

After a exhausting calendar week turn in the US , it was adorable to number back to variety in the garden and the greenhouse . thing that were under the surface last weekend are emerging . Seeds that were germ are now seedlings . More on those another fourth dimension , but suffice to say I have a bit of pricking out to do . Six on Saturday then . Six things , in the garden , on a Saturday . Could be anything – a tool , a tragedy , an emerging plant , a flower , anything at all . Join in !

Here are my Six for this week .

1 – Thalictrum x ‘ Black Stockings ’ . I grew these from seed last twelvemonth and they finished up as quite small-scale plant that did n’t do a groovy deal in 2018 . This is not unexpected with seed grown perennial , they often take a year or two to hit their stride . I was pleased to see that they are out of the traps , raring to go . Just a tight bundle of growth the right way now , they will soon spring onward .

2 – Tulip kaufmanniana . Just the striped leaves so far . If I recall decently these are among the first to flower . It must have rained while I was forth , each swirl of leaves has a small pool of body of water at its base .

3 – Was it just a week ago that I feature these ‘ jetfire ’ narcissus ? sentence flies when you ’re , um , fly , The petals are swept back aerodynamically and the horn ( strobile ? ) is a shining and darker lily-livered . They make a change from the introductory yellow .

4 – Prunus kojo no mai . A recent addition to my garden , half price of course . I have it in a comely size sight on the patio . It is quite small , perhaps 60 centimeter , but is breed in diminutive bud like these . I am anticipating quite a show in the next few weeks .

5 – Aubrieta . maturate from seed a couple of twelvemonth ago this blameless plant lolls about the position flowering from about now to good knows when . I in all likelihood should have more , I will take some press cutting later in the bound .

6 – Geranium , red foliage . I thought I ’d lose these , by which I mean misplace rather than deceased . I grew them from seed last class , again they did n’t do much , but I did manage to keep the alive over the summer . I recently have a closer look at some pots of compost lurking under the trampoline . Sure enough , there they were . increase is emerging with vigour so they should be quite nice plants this yr , I just have to visualize out where to put them .
