A Canadian gardener looks back at her favorite time of year
Today we ’re visiting the garden of Lillian O’Rourke from Waterloo , Ontario . She ’s take us back in metre a little to relish her garden as it transitioned from summertime into crepuscle :
I have sex the transition from summertime to fall . I pretty much plant thing in summer that take that transition very well , and the only thing I add is a few mums . I ’ve been gardening for most of my life , my grandfather being a master nurseryman back in the fifties . My garden in fall consists of nasturtiums , break of day glory , and a crabapple tree , which puts on a real show with its small decorative apple for the fowl to love in winter .
Nasturtiums ( Tropaeolum majus , annual)blooms all summertime , but like so many annuals , they reach apex florescence at the end of summer . A small garden helper seems to be enjoying these flowers as well .

A seraphic little informal bouquet of nasturtium flowers . you may see that the leafage of this variety are variegated , splosh irregularly with blank . Several variegated variety show of genus Nasturtium have this trait , which can add a lot of interest to an already beautiful plant .
A snarl of bright dark morning glories ( Ipomoea tricolor‘Heavenly aristocratic ’ , annual ) . Some people consider morning aura are a bit too aggressive , but who can say no to that shade of blue ?
I mean really — that color is just unadulterated .

Brilliant orange crabapples ( Malussp . ) make a great display at the goal of summertime , and chick love them . These lucky hiss have a house and a banquet all in one spot .
The crabapples make a sheer splash of colour across the dark-green garden .
What is the end of summer and the beginning of declension without some mum ? I love the elbow room these dissimilar colors are mingle together .
