If you have never seen pumpkinhead scarecrows before , then you are in for a delicacy ! I fell in lovemaking with these witching fellas at the New York Botanical Garden and I ca n’t wait to insert you to them . I trust they bring you some joy as they did for me . These guys look fun and modern , but scarecrows are nothing new ; they have been used in agriculture dating back thousands of eld to spook animate being from husbandman ’s field . Some records date stamp them back to ancient Egypt !
The scarecrows at theEverett Children ’s Adventure Gardenat the New York Botanical Garden are much less skittish . When you get , the pumpkinhead bird-scarer receive you through an archway of decorative pumpkins and colorful ribbons .
A fitting entrance to a violent and impulsive place for child to research the garden and larn about nature . There were many faces to see as you walked along the path .

All of the scarecrows are made from fallen branches from around the garden . Last twelvemonth there were 50 pumpkinhead scarecrows but this year they have a whopping 100 ! I ’m not certain how many I even see because they seemed to be hidden everywhere .
Here is a cute picture showing the tree surgeon getting the garden quick for the season .
The pumpkinheads recreate you on as you tour the grounds .

And there were even a few four - legged creatures too .
Alongside the scarecrows there were pumpkins , heavy and warty , displayed in full resplendency among the hay Basel .
Not to be outdone by the strawman , there were pumpkins in every semblance you’re able to guess .

Some that were giants ,
and some that were just plain pretty .
Asters and goldenrod were feverishly bloom and fill withbees , while seed heads fed resident birds . The wildness of the blooms and combat-ready wildlife made this garden even more special .

I would love to have toured this garden with my son , as he would have taken so much delight in the details : the enormous flipper - wearing fish and caterpiller topiary , colorful playhouse , and learning spaces made just for little plant scientist .
But , most of all , he would have delight in the pumpkinhead scarecrows as much as I did .
