How to Cook Butternut Squash for Mashing
For this formula I roast the butternut squash first before mash rather than steaming or boiling the squash rackets .
I do this for a couple of reasons , one being that roasted white walnut squash is very flavorful . The 2nd reason is because it ’s much easier than uncase and cubing the squash for steaming or boiling .
If you would prefer tosteam or boil the squashthat will still work just okay ! Just cut the squash crosswise and use a small paring tongue to remove the skin . Then cut down the squash into square block and steam or churn them until they are tender .

Roast the Butternut Squash
As I mentioned above , roasting the butternut squashis the easiest and tasty way to make this recipe !
First abbreviate the ending off the the squash then cut it in half lengthwise . A big chef ’s knife works best for this .
Then lift out out the seeds and place the squash racquets on a baking canvas trend side up .

Spread some softened butter on the trimmed side of the squash , then put a little bit of maple syrup into the cavity where the seeds were .
jest at the squash at 350 ° F for about an hour or until the shape is very soft when pierced with a tongue or fork .
Take the roasted mash out of the oven and let it cool for 15 - 20 bit or until it can be handled without being too raging .

Mash the Butternut Squash
Once the squash is cool enough , scoop out the anatomy with a spoonful into a bowl . impart some butter , maple syrup , and salt and mash everything together with a fork until the squash racquets is creamy and there are no goon .
As long as the squash is really tender after roasting it will romance up very easy . A fork is ordinarily all you will need ! I do n’t find using a mixer or potato masher to be necessary .
