A bee, butterfly, and bird paradise in South Carolina
I ’m Libby Breitenbaugh , and I garden in Zone 8a in Irmo , South Carolina . I ’m sharing a few pic from summer 2022 . I have been gardening for over 30 years . I antecedently shared photos of thebutterfly gardenI started in 2016(Libby ’s Butterfly Garden in South Carolina ) . When I begangardening for wildlife , my butterfly garden slowly transformed into a bird- , bee- , and butterfly - friendly garden . I also incorporateherbsandvegetablesin my garden . I stopped using chemical pesticides and prefer for instinctive alternatives . Since doing so my bee population has double . I alsocompostmy kitchen scraps and yard trimmings . My garden consist of native , perennials , and annual industrial plant . I have bothnectarandhost plants , and I always includemilkweedfor the monarchs . you could have a beautiful garden that supports backyard wildlife . My garden supplies tax shelter , food , and water for my all my visitors . I also enjoy taking photos of my garden and all its visitors .

This garden path is lined with lambs ’ ears ( Stachysbyzantina , Zones 4–8 ) , with the rest of the bed filled with coloured heyday includingconeflowers(Echinaceahybrids , Zones 4–8 ) andSalvia‘Vista ’ ( Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) .
This garden urn is brim over with petunias ( Petuniahybrids , one-year ) , with an good spire ofCordylineaustralis(Zones 9–11 ) and a drag drape of golden creep Jenny ( Lysimachianummularia‘Aurea ’ , Zones 3–9 ) .
A bright male American Spinus tristis hangs out on azinnia(Zinnia elegans , annual ) flower .

A monarch butterfly butterflyfuels up on at a butterfly bush ( Buddleiadavidii , Zones 5–9 ) .

A distaff crimson - throatedhummingbirdgathers ambrosia from a pentas ( Pentaslanceolata , Zones 10–11 or as an annual ) .
These phlox appear like they might be the ‘ Fashionably other ’ ( Phloxhybrid , Zones 4–8 ) intercrossed phlox , which bloom sooner and quell shorter than the traditional garden phlox ( Phloxpaniculata , Zones 4–8 ) .
