Formerly overgrown and full of holes . . .
Today we ’re shoot the breeze Tonya Keck ’s garden in Davis , California .
We bribe our house eight year ago . It was a foreclosure and had been vacant for over a year . The kitchen windows all look out to the backyard . It was a hobo camp with many yield trees and heavy holes where plants had been murder , but I lie with it ! Over the years I ’ve had success with many type of geraniums , Nipponese maples(Acer palmatum , Zones 5–9 ) , roses(Rosahybrids ) , lemon grass(Cymbopogon citratus , Zones 9–10 ) , giant bird of paradise(Strelitzia nicolai , geographical zone 9–10 ) , and lantana(Lantana camara , Zones 8–10 or as yearly ) . We invite the neighbor over for outside movie night all summer long !
A rosebud just get down to unfurl , forebode bright colour and fragrance to come up .

A dyad of lady beetle take a break from gobbling up aphids have found a beautiful , romantic smear to , um , get up skinny and personal with each other . That is well news for the garden . Ladybug larvae are even more voracious than the grownup beetles , and since they ca n’t fly when green , they detain in your garden gobbling up all sort of problem - causing insects .
A sunshine - soak terrace dotted with profuse containers . Those of us not lucky enough to be living in California can observe enviously the good lemons hanging from a tree in the top of the photo .
A garden sculpture nestle down in the lucullan planting .

Between a Japanese maple and a bird of paradise industrial plant is a simple bench inviting you to intercept , rest , and enjoy .
Nemesiais a beautiful yearly , best suit to mood where you have cool nights or during the cooler temperatures of fall and bounce . New breeding has greatly enlarge the color reach and temperature tolerance of this group , and it is easygoing to see why their vivid colour make such an impact in the garden .
