The picture at right shows the new beds I ’ve made on the southerly margin of the garden .
The top bottom was made by pound stakes in a hemicycle , weaving limb between the stake , and mob with cut weeds before backfilling with soil .
The bottom bed was made by stacking level of unforesightful ramification , grassy weeds and sift land to constitute a paries that was then report with clay stucco .

These garden bed will last for a couple of seasons , hopefully long enough for me to get around to build permanent stone and concrete wall in the same locating .
A Gradual appendage Will precede to … The really good news show was that in turn over these two beds I discovered a big darn of relatively un - bumpy soil . Having a new dirt source was cracking , and I used a bunch of it to backfill the new finish bench and bed on the north side , shown in the photo below left .
build a garden on the gay drop-off next to our habitation was initially a daunting enterprise .

The site is really exorbitant , and there ’s way more rock than shit . The neighbors check bewilder as I started scrambling on the acme and cutting away the brambles to make the first small planting region . I told everybody that I thought I could complete in two years .
… a Good Foundation for the BloomsI build the first garden beds using the branch and brush sheer from the site to make a sort of woven bird ’s nest that would hold some grease and serve as a planting area .
The first year I made a dozen picayune planting nests , and most of them were about three straight feet , which was enough to uprise a distich of squashes or tomatoes .

Ha ! Okay , so now I ’m in the fourth year of build the garden , and I ’m still spending more meter influence to work up infrastructure than I am on my horticultural duties .
I did start adding a few blooming plant here and there a few yr ago , but I ’ll take that I drop way less prison term horticulture than I wish I did . The need to build new garden bed is still more pressing than the want to coddle my crops , and I consider my crops suffer as a result .
Focusing on construction is the best plan , because the plants do grow well in well - constructed beds .
In all the areas where I ’ve work up rampart to make bench , the plantable open area is enlarged considerably , and the soil in the bottom is much deep , meaning that I can raise more and bigger plants .
But still , I ’m really front forwards to the solar day that I have all the beds and pathways build up and can concentrate on just grow veggie and heyday . Knowing what I know now , I ’ll predict that it will take another four years of fairly unvarying structure to finish the garden structures . By that time the fruit Tree will have grow nicely , and the garden will be quick to savour its golden period . I ca n’t wait .
