A Spring Day at Last! Sunshine! Yippee!
Today is a violent letter daylight in my part of the world . Spring has made an appearance . It was a ardent , sunny day and as it is Thursday I have had some horticulture assistant . This garden is quite large to look after single - handed , specially as I keep grok up ever more lawn and create new areas . But now I have veritable help , because Thursday is Hector Day . OK , he lack finesse , but he for certain make up for it in enthusiasm . He is nifty on hollow and very good at it .

He loves dress .

He quite justly thought theStipa gigantealooked a jam and set about sorting it out . The full roulette wheel barrow was perhaps a little too grave for him to tug , but he gamely had a try .
He has an unconventional approach to hedge care and has taken a great fancy to theLonicerahedge which is quite an unusual material body now , after his work on it . He has also turn the compost heap over ; so all in all , a in effect twenty-four hour period ’s work . Cheers Hector . Most importantly , he is so full of mellow life and gurgle over with a zest for life story , that he is a tonic to be with and brings a bounteous foolish grin to the face , even when his dearest of horticulture becomes a little over -enthusiastic . You ca n’t be depress when Hector is around .

And you ca n’t be depressed when the birds are singe and the garden is full of outflow flowers . Here are dead my last Anemone quinquefolia pictures for this season . First , Galanthus woronowiiwith its distinctive Malus pumila - unripe leaves and secondlyGalanthus plicatuswhich is always the last one to flower in March .

It is amazing how long hellebores flower for . They started in January and they are still bet howling .
The last Witch Hazel to flower in my garden is alwaysHamamelis x intermedia‘Arnold Promise ’ .

But enough of these wintery thing , today I am observe spring . Ialways get activated when the little fountain woodlanders such asCorydalisput in an show . They seed around too , so there are always plenty to enjoy . They do go away completely after inflorescence , which is worrying . I am always afraid that I might put a fork through the tuber .

There are quite a few plump Dutch crocuses in the front garden . This utter blank one is called Jeanne d’Arc . It caught my eye because there is such a handsome blubber bumble bee delight the nectar on the orange pistil .

Celandines are a pestilence in my garden , but at least they disappear totally when they have done their stuff and nonsense . But Christopher Lloyds ’ ‘ Brazen Hussy ’ is always welcome with its lovely bronze foliage .
Ficaria verna‘Brazen Hussy ’
And of course of action , spring means that it is daffodil time . I have hatful of big blowsy ones in the orchard .

But I prefer the little ones , such as the wild lent lily that Wordsworth fell in love with;Narcissus pseudonarcissus .

I ’m also very doting of this one with reflexed petal .

In the glasshouse , I have a potful of the oniony - smellingIpheion‘Alberto Castello ’ . in reality , I think we have to call themTristagmanow , but let ’s not nettle about that .

I also have aCyclamen rhodium peloponnesiacumin a pot . It is a lovely little thing with specked leaves and sweet scented flowers . There should be more flowers , but I planted it upside down , so three of the flowers are growing out of the bottom of the pot . This is a stupid mistake to make . The topside of Cyclamen corms are unremarkably rocky and boisterous and peradventure they have nodules .

So there we have some of the little beauties which I have been enjoy today . I will save some for another day , but I will finish with the Chocolate Vine , the scramblingAkebia quinatawhich is flowering much in the first place than usual this year .

I hope you have had stack of temperateness today too and plentitude of springiness prime to revel .

Even here in Ontario snowdrops and hellebores are open up so there is promise for spring . Hector certainly wait enthusiastic .
The wish you included in a comment on my web log has come dependable – you get cheerfulness and I have more rain today ! Yay ! Hector is endearing and I can just imagine what a help he is in the garden . My spouse saw me glancing wistfully at a pup just today and promptly inform me that we are NOT get a dog but maybe I can borrow one for weekly visits as you have . Your Narcissus pseudonarcissus alone would make me featherbrained if I had such a mass display in my garden but all your spring botch are delightful !
